After placing second in Round 1, Tofino, BC surfer Janek Peladeau finished fourth in his Round 2 under-18 qualifying heat at the 2009 World Junior Surfing Championship in Ecuador on Monday.
Peladeau has since been relegated to the repechage rounds along two other Canadian surfers, Kye Peladeau and Frazer Laine-Mayor, who are also from Tofino.
