To lose access to this point would be a very sad thing indeed and I feel, a very big mistake. I am a Canadian living and working and surfing in Japan right now, who is deciding where I can move to when I return to Canada. Having access to surfing is one of the most important factors in my decision. I was very surprised and pleased to to see the growth of the sport in the Halifax area and was very impressed that large-scale surfing competitions are taking place in the Halifax area. Halifax will be my choice to live as there is no other city in Canada with such prime access to surf. Why do they roar up and down our rural roads on surf days WELL in excess of the posted limits and pass ordinary local drivers on double yellow lines? Why do they take a piss in clear view of everyones home on the roadside in seaforth? Why do they need to pass school busses to get to the surf a few minutes sooner? In my area there is a turnaround spot for the school bus and on some surf days non local surfers park there -in clear violation of the signs-which forces the bus driver to have to drive his bus in reverse-with a bus load of kids- for half a km to get a a spot to turn around? We would likely be a party of seven or more surfers, but all over 11 years of age, and all beginners. We're staying at Margaree Harbour and would consider something closer to our home base but I don't think anything exists. I'm guessing it's about a two hour drive from Margaree to Point Michaud.
