Shipping Surf to West Africa
Below is an unedited email sent to ScotiaSurfer.com from a person named Ben Larry, who lives in the West African country of Ghana.
Bordering on the Gulf of Guinea (Atlantic Ocean), Ghana apparently has some excellent surf spots. For example, click here.
However, based on Mr. Larry’s letter, it appears Ghana is suffering from the same lack of good swell currently afflicting Nova Scotia surfers:
Dear Sir/Madam,
I’m Mr Ben Larry and I would like to Order some Surf. I want to know the types that you carry in stock as well as the price ranges for me to advice the quantity I desire. however I want this units to be shipped to Ghana West Africa and I want to know the types of credit card you admit for payment. Thank You and waiting for your prompt reply.
Best Regard
Mr. Ben Larry
The following is the response ScotiaSurfer.com sent to Mr. Larry:
Dear Mr. Larry,
Thank you for your email. We regret to inform you that we will be unable to ship you any Surf at the present time because we are suffering from a severe shortage right now.
The Surf makers in the North Atlantic are currently on vacation. We’re hoping that they will be back at work soon since we have a massive backorder for Surf in our area.
When the Surf makers do start cranking out Surf again, we’re hoping to stock plenty of high-quality point breaks and reef breaks – the Surf makers in our area specialize in this type of Surf.
If we’re lucky, we may even stock some exotic imported Surf from the South Atlantic later in the summer or early fall. Unfortunately, this Surf is highly-coveted by locals and we are never sure when we are going to receive a shipment.
As to your last question, we accept all credit cards, including Zellers Club Z. We also accept Canadian Tire money. Unfortunately, due to pent-up demand, there will be a premium on any Surf we ship overseas.
Oh yes, I forgot to mention that my cousin, a local surfer in our area, happens to be the son of the former dictator of our province who was recently overthrown by communists. The dictator, who is also a famous fiddler, is currently awaiting trial on a variety of charges related to the mis-use of public funds.
The dictator has hidden 20 board bags full of loonies equalling two million dollars. My cousin is hoping to ship the bags out of Nova Scotia before his father is thrown into the Cape Breton Correctional Facility.
In order to get the bags out of the country, my cousin needs $5,000 U.S. transfered to his bank account which will allow him to make the necessary payments to Port of Halifax workers, who will allow him to ship the bags to Costa Rica, where he will retrieve them.
If you could provide my cousin with the initial $5,000 U.S., he promises to give you 20 percent of the money (400,000 loonies). He will also give you his Costa Rican beach house for two weeks, a case of Imperial beer, and unlimited use of his Al Merrick Black Beauty surfboard, signed by Tom Curren.
If you are interested, please send me you credit card and banking information as soon as possible so we can begin this mutually-beneficial transaction.
Best regards,
ScotiaSurfer.com
P.S. The letter from Mr. Barry is latest Nigerian-style email scam making its way around the Internet. ScotiaSurfer.com has received several emails over the past few months. Usually, the emailer requests details on surfboards. This is the first time we have received an email requesting Surf.
